Two Gravel & Shea colleagues and I presented seminars last week at the Vermont Bar
Association Mid-Year Meeting in Lake Morey.
Navah Spero and Livia DeMarchis presented Probate 101. The session, intended to provide a broad overview of the Vermont probate court, was geared toward attorneys new to practicing in Vermont and attorneys who are starting or interested in starting their own probate practice.
In my seminar, I provided an overview of state and federal laws applicable to food and beverage producers and of the jurisdictions of the various state and federal agencies responsible for enforcing those laws. I also provided my Vermont Bar colleagues with a review of current litigation trends and recent developments involving “all natural” and “no artificial-[fill in offending claim here]” claims, acrylamide, glyphosate, slack-fill, health-maintenance, false labeling and other claims, as well as an update on the regulatory treatment of certain products, especially those related to CBD, with a particular focus on dietary supplements.
It was great to have the opportunity to highlight food and beverage issues and to let other counsel in our region know the matters developing nationwide that might affect our food and beverage clients here in Vermont.
